JULIO’S VISIT

May 21, 2007

It was good to have my good friend Julio Medina down for this past weekend. We had a great time catching up on everything. We were roommates for about a year….I know….it had to be tough being my roommate. We were able to take a little tour of my hometown; which by the way, has changed drastically since I was in high school. I’m putting a slideshow up of some of the pics we took.

You know, loyal friends are a rare thing. I appreciate Julio (and a few more guys) and their loyal friendship. I wish many of you could come down for a visit. Mrs. Marlene Evans once said that if you could leave this earth and have had 5 TRUE friends you would be considered blessed. That is an shocking but true statement. Who are some of your loyal friends? Tell me a little about them.

That’s a great quote by Mrs. Evans. Initially you think that you have way more friends than that, but then you get past the college days and move on with your life, you realize you only do have a handful of true friends. Just think back a couple of years how many guys you would have named when asked who your true friends are…I probably would have named 10 guys. That number is alot smaller now.

Honestly, sometimes I miss the days where you just hang out with your friends and screw off and play around at college. Don’t get me wrong- I LOVE MY LIFE NOW. It’s awesome when your best freind is your wife and you get to spend all the time with her…but there is a comradery that you miss when you don’t get to “hang out” with your buddies all the time.

I agree with you Steve. When I was at school, I counted many people as my true “friends.” But when you leave, you hang on to a very limited number of them. Thanks for being one on a very short list.

Steve, we had several nights where we would stay up and talk about serious subjects (spirtual, social, etc…) I feel that is where we really became close friends. Same with Julio, Adam, etc… It’s not really the guys you were forced to be friends with, ie. roommate, co-worker, ministry worker etc… it’s the people you spent quality time with outside of those activities.

Hey guys I know exactly what you are talking about. Man, there are times I just want to get away. We would have the funnest times at the stupidest stuff. It was like Steve said, a comradarie. It was great. Now, I only have three or four people I can call and I know they would do anything I need. That is sad. However, those three or four that I can call and do that… they are the best friends I could have. Thanks guys for being there even when I do really stupid stuff… things I still regret. Good post Josh.

you are right on josh. There’s those people for me (which you fall in that category) and then the guys I grew up with, being all of Stateline boys. That I know, even though we may not keep in contact well, if I called them with a need they would drop what they were doing to help me. That’s when you realize who your FRIENDS are…when you need something and they are actually there and wanting to help.

Kim, I would watch who you associate with….Kina has always been viewed as the “wrong crowd” in my eyes.

JUST KIDDING! PLEASE DON’T TAKE IT SERIOUSLY. She is a great friend of my wife and me.
